Why Choose The Northbridge Academy

The Northbridge Academy is the most successful Academy on the North Shore.

1] It prepares more players for representative football than any other local Academy.

2] The Academy itself competes at the highest level and has produced many teams who have gone onto win local and state wide competitions. In 2018 the Academy had two teams in the Grand Finals of the prestigious Football NSW Champion of Champions Competition.

3] The Northbridge Academy also benefits from being the longest running Academy on the North Shore. With experience comes knowledge, we have learnt what works – and what doesn’t. We know what players and parents are looking for.

4] The Northbridge Academy links directly into the North Shore Mariners.
The Academy follows the Mariners Development Program.

5] Players moving between the two programs will be fully acquainted with the drills and playing styles. Each season more Academy players are being promoted to the North Shore Mariners.

6] Importantly the Northbridge Academy has a dedicated Technical Director.

Northbridge Academy Promises.

1] High quality, well accredited coaches working with the Academy Technical Director.
2] All teams share consistent and uniformed programs
3] Involvement in additional Competitions like The Kanga Cup, The FNSW State Cup and The Proctor Cup.
Younger age groups will also compete in the Mariners Cup.
4] Opportunities to train-on with the North Shore Mariners during season.
5] Realistic chances to be selected for the North Shore Mariners
6] Coach Education. All Academy and Mariners Coaches are part of the same coaching education program.

The Northbridge Academy is also directly linked to the Club’s own High Performance Training Program, ProZone.

Why ProZone.

ProZone is small group, high intensity training designed to help players develop skills and work on problem areas.
Having this type of Program on-site has a huge advantage.
It means the Academy and ProZone coaches will be working together to help the player meet his or her objectives.
The Team Coach and the ProZone Coach communicating and working together being a huge advantage to fast track skill development.

2019 Technical Director Appointed.

Northbridge FC welcomes our new Academy Technical Director. Freddie Seccombe [ FFA B License ]
Freddie has worked throughout Australia and Overseas at Academy and Representative level, most recently in 2018 – St George Under 20 Head Coach and Cranbrook Football Head Coach
Freddie has a passion for coaching and has visited the top clubs of Europe to enhance his football knowledge. Such clubs as Barcelona, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Ajax, Feyenoord, Inter Milan, Sporting Lisbon, Newcastle and The Nike Academy.

Having Freddie as a dedicated academy Technical Director, linking the Academy to NS Mariners program will only see the Club’s Academy get stronger in 2019.

Northbridge Academy Program Outline and Trials – Updated 11/11

Purpose

To provide a challenging, engaging and development-focused environment which enhances the ability of our players through effective coaching.

Program

All our teams are appointed a qualified coach for the season. Each coach has a minimum of the FFA Skill Training or Game Training Certificate. Our coaches will be mentored and supported by our full-time Football Development Manager.

U12-U16 Boys and Girls – Each “A” team plays in either the Super League (Boys division 1) or Diamond League (Girls division 1). “B” teams will play in the division suitable for the group.

Commitment

Every Academy team trains twice a week. If anyone finds they have issues with training availability after the schedule is known, they should contact us to discuss options (e.g. train on with another team, attend Prozone weekly in lieu…).  All players are expected to prioritise their academy football matches above other weekend activities.

Program duration approx. 27 weeks (Feb-Aug with breaks during school holidays. The first week of school holidays off, 2nd week back in training as there will be a game for all in the last weekend of school holidays. If teams go to Kanga Cup then they can be flexible with this in July. )

Still spots open in G10 and G12 Academy teams.  Please contact Matilde Johns on academy@northbridgefc.com.au if your daughter is interested in either of these age groups.
